Erasmus is the only book–café in town, and nonetheless the best of them.
The place is similar to a piano song. The bookshelves that streak the white walls are written in treble clef, the chairs, tables and bar in bass clef.
The harmony is tuned by quiet music ranging from Thelonious Monk to Dead Can Dance and beyond.
The menu is simple, but the coffee and tea are good and the pricing is excellent.
To be honest, I don’t feel the need for complicated drinks, whatever I need is here: light, the scent of old and new books blended with tea, the whipped cream on my frappé, braided chairs, music.
"This café is a place for sullen, misanthrope people..." - wrong! It has an indoors as well as an outdoors playground for children, and a well-behaved hamster that won’t interrupt your reading.
